a brutal day for this game temp 90+ humidity thru the roof..12 pm start was a blessing..
Mound debuts by Josh lewis & Jacob carpenter...nice job by both...
the hot weather melted our gloves ... a bad 3rd inning put the game out of reach...
hitting
Z 2 singles
Mikey single
Danny L single
Rico B single
Dan facci double
of note
Mr Met-Jason Cotugno got drilled by a fastball in the back...he dropped his bat and jogged to first like a man- no tears..
as the regular season ends(boy did it go fast) the play offs get started and will go by even quicker than the regular season....
I salute all my fellow coaches for the time put in to make the season fun for the boys...coaching is a lot of work that sometimes goes unnoticed...
Mrs.C & Iceman Willie must go!
thanks Darleen... |

Team McVeigh |
|
Well for the last game of our regular season the boys tried a new game plan and actually took the lead. We then put it in cruise control and got back to our usual nail biting, exciting baseball action. When Coach Medici went to the old delayed steal(haven't seen that since my first year of intermediates) to make it 7-4 I knew things were getting serious. When the score reach 7-6 the McVeigh boys did their usual and toughened up and held on to an exciting victory. Great regular season boys! Hits by Cox(2b,3b), Egan(HR), McHugh(1b,2B) and T.Gates led the charge. |

Metro boys down 7 quick in this one but the "boys" noticed coach McEgan near the dug out watching Big Brown go down through his TV phone. The Metro boys were able to take advantage at that point scoring five runs to get back into it with coach McEgan routing for the triple crown victory. Score was 7-6 until team McVeigh scored 2 more in the 6th. Coach Cox no factor as he just returned from a double header through 93+ heat to work for McVeigh. Team Metro did a great job for the most part on defense and as we talked about that was our goal to improve our defense. Nice pitching from some part-timers in the hot heavy heated day before summer. NOtables:
Nick Dennis single/score
Jake Messina two singles
Alex Jones single
Mike Blabs single/score
Dan Medici unauthorized delayed steal home
Tom S. single and score
Hey Hey Jacob Alund single and a score...good job.
Nice job Jonny Dariano you were feeling it yesterday.
Metro boys gear up and be prepared for the tourney!!!
Congrats team McVeigh for division title your a talented team. |
