We played a clean game today against a very good and well coached Saratoga squad. The boys were focused throughout the game and made a number of good defensive plays. Our pitchers did a great job throwing strikes, giving up 4 runs on 8 hits and only issuing 3 walks. They were supported by a solid all around defensive effort led by Jack Daggett w/a 5-3 DP and a diving catch in CF. Collin Mesick also made a nice play at 3rd - turning a sure double into a ground ball out. Offensively we had a lot of hard hit balls but good defense by Saratoga resulted in only 4 hits. Ryan Patrick had a 1B & 2B and Brennan Hedderman had a 2B but the offensive star was Michael VanWormer who hit a solo HR over the CF fence in the 4th inning.
