A great effort by Garrett Klahr lifted Dicks Sporting Goods to a 14-3 win in five innings over All Stars Academy on Wednesday at NCYBA Field two. Klahr racked up seven RBIs on four hits for Dicks Sporting Goods. He homered in the first inning, tripled in the second inning, singled in the fourth inning, and doubled in the fifth inning. Dicks Sporting Goods blew out All Stars Academy thanks to 11 hits, including four extra base hits. Dicks Sporting Goods scored five runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Klahr, a two-run single by Justin Methe, a wild pitch, and a groundout by Luke Dupris. Methe got the win in relief for Dicks Sporting Goods. Methe pitched three innings and allowed two runs. Dicks Sporting Goods went up for good in the first, scoring three runs on a three-run home run by Klahr. Dicks Sporting Goods brought home three runs in the second inning, and matched that run total in the fifth. In the second, Dicks Sporting Goods scored on an RBI triple by Klahr, plating Mike Murphy. Two runs in the bottom of the third helped All Stars Academy close its deficit to 6-2. An RBI double by Jonathon W and a wild pitch gave All Stars Academy life. The All Stars Academy threat came to an end when Methe finally got Greg B to ground out. The game ended in the fifth inning when with All Stars having runners at first and third Ryan M caught the All Stars runner on first stealing second with a fake throw to third.
