		In a very well played, exciting extra inning contest, the Backyard Boys scratched out a 2-1 victory in a game that both teams deserved to win. This was an old fashioned pitchers duel, with Saiyvin Wesley and Bellizzi's Ryan Davis at their best for the first 4 innings. Hits were rare and Ks frequent with these two talented pitchers on the mound. Behind 1-0, the Backyard squad finally plated a run to tie the game in the bottom of the 6th. The winning run was finally scored in walkoff style in the bottom of the 8th, when Dermot McDonough and Wesley had back to back hits. Backyard's Andrew Luntz pitched 4 shutout innings in relief, when there was no margin for error. Bellizzi's southpaw Drew Epstein was equally tough in 3+ innings of relief. Joe Fierro and Eddie Stevens had solid hits in the later innings for the Backyard squad. There were many great plays in the field by both teams. Backyard dodged a bullet early, when right fielder Stevens snagged a laser shot by Bellizzi's Jerry Jennings. Mike Turoski gloved multiple grounders at 3B, including a nice play and throw to start a critical 5-3-6 double play to end the top half of the 7th. Michael Mullen made several tough plays at SS. McDonough was rock solid behind the plate. A terrific effort by all the players on both teams.
