Josh - 60 pitches Chad - 40 pitches Saturday was a day where there were more 'firsts' than a day at the track. Let's begin: To start it all off, it was my birthday so it was my FIRST day of being 28 years old. It was my FIRST day of missing the morning Challenger games in the 2 years we've had the Program. It was the FIRST time I've ever seen Little League Rule 1.12 cause such a scene and become a vital part of a game that was in progress (look it up, I aint telling you the rule). It was the FIRST time in NCYBA history that a team had to start the season on a 5 game road trip. Yes - we are weary. It was the FIRST time this season that the juggernaut Team McGuirk gave up a run. It was the FIRST time this season that the juggernaut Team McGuirk didn't have their 'A' game. It was the FIRST time in my Little League life going back to the mid 80's when I was a player (remember, I'm only 28 years old) that I've ever seen an entire Little League team that was taller than their manager! A huge task was at hand as Team Achievements faced arguably the hottest team in the land. A quick 2 spot in the top 1st gave the team a much needed boost. The M&M Boys came right back and a narrow 3-2 lead after 2 innings gave Team Achievements the confidence that they could hang with the elite McGuirsters! The offense continued to pressure Coach Cox's crew and the end result was a 10-2 victory for the Achievers! We'll start the congrats with our hurlers as Josh Koppel (3 innings of 1 hit ball) and The Chadster (3 innings of 0 hit ball) combined to impressively keep in check the McGuirks offense. Some flashes of leather: catcher T-Pot making a very nice diving, basket catch of a foul ball behind home plate. Joe 'Matsui' Rynasko making a nice grab in LF on a sinking line drive.
